everything is a path, a gate or a window which opens to something else”

Dr. Phil. Shiri Versano Sprengel
Clinical Psychologist
About:
Hello, my name is Shiri Versano Sprengel and I am an expert clinical psychologist and in addition, a medical - health psychologist short before graduation.
I treat adults, youth and children in a private clinic in Tel Aviv (Ha-Madinah Square area).
During the past 15 years I have gained a lot of therapeutical experience, both in Israel and abroad and during my years of work as a therapist I accompanied many people on their journey to self discovery and development and I was privileged to be of help to them in the processes of change and transformation they went through and to be there for them
"That other outside of us" that invites us to the possibility of a renewed look at ourselves.
” The true journey of discovery does not consist of searching for new treasures, but of seeing with new eyes ”
(Marshal Frost )
Audience:
The experience I have gained is both with adults as well with teenagers, children and their parents, including parenting training and parenting care in dealing with the unique complexities of childhood and adolescence (sensory and emotional regulation difficulties, separation anxiety, social anxiety, attention and concentration problems, behavioral problems and more) while providing emotional and practical tools that enable both the child and his parents to produce a renewed and more adaptive personal, interpersonal and environmental encounter.
As a therapist, I had the opportunity to work with people who experienced various difficulties and challenges, starting with medical challenges (fertility problems, oncology, hemato-oncology, chronic diseases, etc.), through physical disorders related to mental difficulties (migraines, digestive problems, etc.) to depression and anxiety disorders, complex traumatic events, Eating disorders, social problems, difficulties in finding a relationship or managing it, interpersonal difficulties, professional dilemmas, immigration and acclimatization difficulties and more.
Therapeutical Approach:
My therapeutic approach is that it is not possible to understand a person except through the relationships they are in, including through the complex and meaningful relationship that develops between the therapist and the patient.
According to dynamic theories, difficulties in the patient's life arise from growth that was absent or went wrong within an early and significant relationship (for example, mother-child relationship). The treatment is therefore a second opportunity for a "corrective experience”, an opportunity to transform a "stagnation" to creation" using the "e-motion" to create "a-motion" through which the transformation is done. Through the relationship with the therapist, as a present, empathic counter partner it is possible to "return back home”.
I also believe in combining spiritual aspects in treatment, approaches and life philosophies both from the world of Kabbalah and from the existentialist and humanistic philosophy, according to which the person is responsible for finding meaning in his life or as Viktor Frankl said:
”He who has a „why” to live for can tolerate almost every "how" ”
My Doktorate - Religion and Spirituality as a Coping Mechanism with Cancer
Therapeutical Methods:
I treat patients according to the the dynamic and psychoanalytical method according to which there is an unconscious root to the difficulties and challenges we experience. Specifically unresolved unconscious conflicts and the complexities of the personality structure as they were built in the early parent-child relationships and as they took shape during the years of adulthood that followed affect our day to day life up to date.
Along with this, during my years as a therapist, I also acquired training in cognitive and behavioral tools (CBT) which focuses on identifying and changing patterns of thought and behavior, not out of resistance but out of acceptance, compassion, responsibility and commitment to change (the third wave of CBT).
The use of approaches is done transparently and in accordance with the specific person, the reason for the appeal and his goals and can be gradual and continuous or short and focused.
I can summarize and say that my therapeutic approach is integrative, at „eye level“ and with an open heart ,out of curiosity and a genuine desire to understand the person in front of me and to establish a relationship with him that combines the "wisdom of the heart" in all its aspects, since without sympathy there is no healing:
”And here is my secret, it is very simple:
only in the heart can one see clearly,
as what I really important is hidden from the eye”
